British Columbia’s logging industry has pushed itself to the brink, converting landscapes of critical ecosystems, including wet old growth forest, into tree farms. Now, amidst increased drying and wildfires, the province’s last old growth forests, parks and protected areas are being threatened by industrial interests under the guise of wildfire mitigation.
The Ministry of Forests is currently working to push Bill 14 (Forests Statutes Amendment Act, 2026) into law. It would allow industry to log forests currently protected by the Park Act.
